This article describes what are the Facebook social actions, how they work and how to configure them.
Facebook social action overview
In the Classic Hotspot Splash Page with Editor, the available Facebook Social Actions are:
- LIKE
- CHECK-IN
- LIKE &CHECK-IN
LIKE
Wi-Fi clients logging via Facebook will be asked to Like a specific Facebook Page. Like is OPTIONAL, as per Facebook policy, so it is NOT possible to force it and clients will be able to skip it.
However, it is possible to configure how often to show the Like button again, once the client skips it.
CHECK-IN
Wi-Fi clients logging via Facebook will be asked to do a Check-in related to a Facebook Place (a Fan Page with geographic information can be used as Facebook Place).
Wi-Fi clients will be able to customize the message that is published together their position information.
LIKE & CHECK-IN
Clients with Wi-Fi will be required to do a Like at the first time. Once done, at the next login, they will be asked to do a Chek-in, according to the configuration.
NOTE
It is NOT possible to ask for both Like and Check-In in the same authentication session.
How to configure Facebook social actions
In order to configure the login through the social action for Wi-Fi clients, please follow below steps:
STEP 1
From Cloud Management access to the Splash Page Editor from:
Your Network >> WiFi SSID >> "your Splash Page" >> Edit Splash Page
or through "Account name" >> Splash Page Editor >> "your Splash Page"
STEP 2
Click on Facebook Login button, if there is one, or add a Facebook Login button (see: How to setup a Classic Hotspot built-in splash page with social login)
Then click on ADVANCED SETTINGS on the right panel:
STEP 3
In the Facebook Social Login page enable "Require Social Action to Navigate"
STEP 4
Select the social action to propose at login: Like, Check-in or Like & Check-in.
Click on SAVE button.
If you enable "LIKE", add a valid Facebook Page URL and choose if to repeat the action if user skips Like option ( IF USER SKIP LIKE)
If you enable "CHECK-IN", add a valid Facebook Page URL and choose if asking for check-in more than once in a specific time ( ASK CHECKIN ONCE EVERY)
If you enable "LIKE & CHECK-IN", add a valid Facebook URL for both, LIKE and CHECK-IN. You can use the same URL for boths, or you can use different URLs.
NOTE
The Page url is valid if you see a green round:
while if it is red or orange it is not correct:
