The code login allows the user to access the Wi-Fi by providing a code through the splash page.
The code is the same for all the Wi-Fi clients.
Differences between password-protected Wi-Fi and Splash Page with a code:
- The password-protected Wi-Fi doesn't show your brand, as there isn't a captive portal
- Password-protected Wi-Fi is more secure than splash page with code login
- The splash page with code login is fully customizable with your brand, text, images, etc.
- The splash page with code login allows you to show terms and conditions and force their acceptance.
It is recommended:
- If you want to use a captive portal to show your brand in the customized splash page, if you want to show advertisements before/after the splash page or if you want to provide information about who's sponsoring the public hotspot
- If you need to force acceptance of your terms and conditions
- If you don't want to collect any info about the users
- If you want to configure an easy authentication process
It is not recommended:
- If you want to boost the social engagement
- If you need to collect information about users (gender, age, city, etc.)
